2019 Growth, Ted and Gingerbread

2019 – Growth, Ted and Gingerbread

As we come to the end of the decade, we thought it would be wonderful to look back at yet another fruitful year at Encore and here are just some of our highlights…

We have welcomed several new members to our team across all divisions in Peterlee, Washington and Dewsbury in the past 12 months. The North East team gained; Business Development Managers Brett Hopper and Chris Johns, Trainee Production Planner Paul Wrightson, Business Development Support Manager Sean Mattimore, Estimator Steve White, Pre-Production Administrator Shannon Taylor and Production and Quality and Safety Support Officer Megan Heron.

After our expansion into Yorkshire in 2018, Dawn Hinnighan joined the Encore Envelopes as business development manager at our Dewsbury site in May. Dawn is in her element in her new role and has been working alongside the senior managers to help develop and grow the team.

In September, we announced our collaboration with Grantham Gingerbread on a packaging redesign. We were brought on board to create a rustic feel for England’s oldest commercially traded biscuit from artisan producer, Hawkens Gingerbread. Now aligned with the Hawkens brand, the premium packaging matches the luxury taste without losing the legacy of the traditional and much-loved biscuit recipe. We thoroughly enjoyed the project and hope to maintain our great working relationship with the company in the next decade.

We have continued our work as a partner of the Two Sides Project, demonstrating environmental leadership and have been advocating for the improvement of standards and practices when it comes to paper and waste.

2019 also saw us retain our AA rating for a second year from BRCGS following an extensive audit process. This means that we can keep servicing the food and drink industry, which is something that we are extremely proud of.

This year, we supported The North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund as our chosen charity for the third year. Our staff members have participated in some fantastic fundraising activities including the Great North Run and Newcastle Stampede. So far, we have raised over £10,000 for the brilliant cause. We are delighted with our ever-increasing total.

And finally, we couldn’t round up the year without a mention of our furry friend, Ted. We introduced you to him in August, and since then he has been travelling the globe with Team Encore and also doing the rounds at Envelopes and Packaging HQ! You can keep up to date with his adventures here.

We’re looking forward to what 2020 has to offer, and if it anything like the past year, we’re in for a great one!
