It’s World Post Day


Today is one of Encore Envelopes’ favourite days of the year, World Post Day. Taking place each year on October 9th, this special day marks the anniversary of the formation of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was created to allow the free flow of post across the world – a service that many people may take for granted these days.

Every year, more than 150 countries celebrate World Post Day in a variety of ways. In certain countries, World Post Day is observed as a working holiday. Many union members use the event to introduce or promote new postal products and services. Some also use the day to reward their employees for good service.

In many countries, exhibitions are organised and new stamps and date cancellation marks are issued. Other activities include open days at post offices, mail centres and postal museums, the holding of conferences, seminars and workshops, as well as cultural, sport and other recreational activities.

Ever since mail has been delivered to doors, it has been one of the most effective ways of getting in touch with people. This is particularly true for brands wishing to engage with their customers.

Whereas thousands of competitors battle for the same prospects online, direct mail gives you a stronger chance of standing out. Many companies have simply stopped considering engaging their customers through their mailbox.
