Meet The Team
Introducing… Mark Eyeington
Our Operations Director, Mark is northern through and through. This November he will have been a member of the Encore team in Washington for 27 years, and he couldn’t be happier about working and living in the region.
Mark joined us as an adjuster on our envelope machines after leaving school in 1992, progressing to Section Leading Hand and then to Night Shift Supervisor in the years to follow. After excelling in this role, he was promoted to Night Shift Works Manager and then to Operations Manager in 2015, before reaching his current role.
Mark said: “I have always thoroughly enjoyed working at Encore; being a part of developing the innovative ideas that push us forward as a business is something that I’m very passionate about.
“As with any job there are challenges to overcome, but to face them and succeed is a brilliant feeling not only for me, but for the entire team.”
A day for Mark typically starts with him running through the previous 24 hours’ production numbers before getting together with the planning department to schedule the day’s workload. It’s also important for him to keep on top of maintenance schedules, keeping the company’s industry-leading machinery in the best condition.
Let’s get to know Mark a little better…
Describe yourself in three words.
Determined, motivated and stubborn.
What do you like best about the North East?
The weather… and the people, they’re so hard-working and friendly.
What is your favourite place in the region, and why?
Washington – It’s my home, my work and where my family are.
What’s something about you that might surprise people?
One day I would love to own my own cabin boat and cruise around the English coast.
Do you prefer tea or coffee?
If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Formula 1 driver, Ayrton Senna. He’s a legend and battled not only his rivals but the politics of the sport – I bet he’d have some great stories to tell!
How do you unwind after work?
I like to watch sport, mainly football and Formula 1. I also love to take long walks with my wife around the local area and in the Lake District.
